Welcome to the Eric Erickson Show podcast, Our Three.

0:12.6

Hello, America. It is Eric Erickson here. Delighted to have you with me.

0:17.8

8779773-745 is the phone number should you wish to be a part of the program.

0:26.5

I would like to start this hour with a phone call from Shannon about what's happening down in Georgia.

0:36.5

There is a runoff to decide whether or not the

0:39.8

United States Senate will have a power sharing agreement between the Republicans and the Democrats,

0:45.0

or will the Democrats just flat out control it? It matters for a lot of reasons. One of the

0:50.3

biggest is because of the committees. If you're a libertarian, I mentioned this yesterday, but Rand Paul came on a couple of weeks ago, and Rand was pointing out that if the Senate stays

1:00.4

50-50, which it would with Herschel Walker winning, he would be equal to the chair of his committee.

1:07.8

There would be a 50-50 split in that committee. So the Republicans, if a Democrat

1:13.1

missed today, could absolutely take control of the committee and shut the agenda down. And in terms

1:20.1

of generating votes, the Republicans only need a single Democrat to help them block nominees,

1:26.8

help them block legislation with a 5149 senator.

1:30.3

If Raphael Warnock wins, the Democrats control the majority of the committees and no Republicans will have the power to block anything.

1:38.3

And it'll be harder to block nominees. It'll be harder to get anything done for Republicans.

1:43.3

It'll be harder to obstruct Chuck Sch for Republicans. It'll be harder to obstruct

1:45.2

Chuck Schumer. So if you want to stop Joe Biden's agenda and you want to stop Chuck Schumer,

1:51.6

you've got to go vote for Herschel Walker. However begrudging, you may wish to do it because I

1:56.5

realize that some people have an enthusiasm issue there for the candidate equality matter, but you're

2:02.5

essentially voting to help the Republicans tie the Democrats and knots by going to vote.

2:09.0

Even Barack Obama said that in his speech.

2:11.3

I do have to say, Obama had a funny line, and I'm going to see if I can find it.
