Summary

Our latest top 10 debate on Bring Back V10s is all about the biggest driver moves from F1's V10 era. Glenn Freeman is joined - as always - by Edd Straw, Matt Beer and Ben Anderson, to argue over which moves were the most seismic from 1989-2005, with sub-debates including if drivers moving between teams should be more important than a shocking signing from outside F1, or a driver unexpectedly quitting. And should the success of a move play a role in how highly it's ranked? The biggest names from the era all feature in our final list, including Schumacher, Senna, Prost, and Mansell, but which move came out as number one, and who of our panelists had the craziest picks? Listen along to find out. Want MORE BBV10s? Join The Race Members' Club on Patreon and get bonus episodes, including the 1997 Revisited Series! As we near the end of another season of Bring Back V10s, it's time for another top 10 debate.

0:17.0

And this time we'll be arguing over what were the biggest driver moves of the

0:22.0

V10 era. This is our fifth one of these shows and they're always one of the most popular episodes

0:27.9

of any series. So I think it's safe to say this format is here to stay. I'm Glenn Freeman and as

0:33.7

always for a top 10, I've joined by Ed Schoror, Ben Anderson and Matt Beer.

0:38.5

To remind you all how this works, each of us has put together our own top 10 from a short list put together by me.

0:45.8

And those lists have been put together using the current F1 point system, because we need 10 placings, to give us a combined ranking.

0:55.9

But the rest of you on the show with me have no idea what the final order is. As usual, there were some utterly bizarre picks,

1:02.6

and I'm pleased to say none of us picked all 10 driver moves that made the final cut. I picked

1:10.7

seven, Ben had eight, Ed only had six, which he'll be

1:14.9

annoyed about, and Matt had seven. Well, collectively, you're all wrong, aren't you? Terrible.

1:20.4

Well, yeah, we'll see about that. I cannot believe I've got that many in. Don't worry, Ben.

1:25.5

You are still in for some stick later on in this episode.

1:29.9

Normally, I come up with some clever opening question to stir some early debate on

1:34.5

these shows, but this time I'm just going to have a go at two of you.

1:37.6

When I sent over the initial shortlist, it had 18 driver moves on it for us to pick from.

1:46.2

There was one pretty obvious one missing,

1:50.4

and it's a good job that you spotted that between you, because that has placed quite highly.

1:59.3

On the final list, Ben then made some awful suggestions like Yarno Trulita Toyota. Ed pushed for a few that got knocked back, but then you two doubled up on pushing for Michael Andretti to McLaren

2:04.7

and Alex Zanardi to Williams to be included.

2:08.4

I did understand the reasoning of quite a big deal at the time,
