What's up everybody? Welcome back to another episode of a year in the Bible

podcast with the Daily Grace Company. My name is Kyra and I'm a writer on

staff. I'm so happy to be here with you guys again.

Today we are moving right along in Proverbs to Proverbs chapters 4 through 6.

If you remember from yesterday we talked about the call of wisdom as a

theme in Proverbs. Proverbs is personified as a woman and teacher. She calls out to the reader who is addressed as a young son in need of instruction

and guidance. Wisdom also leads the reader on the path of life. This path is straight and

full of light and blessing. The path of wisdom shines brighter and brighter as

a traveler walks down it, so he is able to walk uprightly

towards his destination. The path of wisdom is a symbol for righteousness and

obedience to God's commands.

The reward for obedience is life in God's light and presence.

This path is juxtaposed to the path of the wicked. This path is a crooked, full of

gloom and darkness. There is no light on this path, so the traveler stumbles and

is lost. He is not able to find the way out so he

succumbs to the evil that lurks around him and to death the path of the wicked is a symbol for deviance and perversion, rebellion, and disobedience

against God's commands. The consequence of this path is separation from God's life-giving presence. In order to follow in the path of

wisdom, the young man must cherish her. He must find joy in wisdom first, so that the sun can obey her words. There is an imperative for the
