Today we are discussing Proverbs, chapters 19 through 21.

We are wrapping up the section of Proverbs where independent and

concise sayings are written. If you remember from previous days all of them are wise and reflect general truth and

practicality for life but they are different and apply to varying circumstances.

As we go through these chapters, we should consider whether their principles reinforce or confront our worldview and the worldview of our culture today.

And if we notice some proverbs that don't seem to be always true in our limited and earthly reality, we should study

them through an eternal lens and through the saving work of Jesus Christ. We can

ask ourselves what biblical ethic does this highlight and how can

we follow this ethic in Christ. Let's continue to apply these approaches to a proverb from

chapters 19 through 21.

Proverbs 21, 1 through 3, says,

Doing what is right and just is more acceptable to the Lord than sacrifice.

This proverb builds off of the story of the Israelites and their journey with God.

The Israelites had to demonstrate their faithfulness through adhering to God's law.
