What's up everybody? Welcome back to another episode of a year in the Bible

podcast with a Daily Grace Company. My name is Kyra and I'm a writer on

staff. I'm so happy to be here with you.

Today we are discussing Proverbs, Chapter 16 through 18.

We are again in the section of Proverbs where independent and concise sayings are written.

All of them are wise and reflect general's truth and practicality for life.

But they are different and apply to varying circumstances.

As we go through these chapters, we should consider whether their principles

reinforce or confront our worldview and the worldview of our culture today.

And if we notice that some proverbs don't seem to be always true and are limited and earthly reality and perspective, we should consider them

through an eternal lens and especially through the lens of Jesus' saving work. We can ask ourselves what biblical ethic does this

highlight and how can we follow this ethic in Christ. Let's continue to apply these

approaches to a Proverbs from chapter 16 through 18.

Proverbs 18 verse 4 says,

The words of a person's mouth are deep waters, a flowing river, a fountain of wisdom. Hmm. Now this is a really good one. I really like this one for the imagery used. I can just imagine a person speaking and streams of

water coming from her mouth and being a refreshment to those around her.

The author of this proverb wanted to convey something specific about the words we speak.

First, he relates words to deep water, like a sea or ocean, a body of water that can lead a diver into depths beyond what the eye can immediately see on the surface waves.
