| 1:12.4 | Let's get started with Proverbs chapter 1 through 3. |
| 1:16.6 | Proverbs begins with stating that the beginning of wisdom is the fear of the Lord. The fear of the Lord is not to be terrified of God, rather it is to develop a reverence and submission to his lordship. The God of the universe is omniscient, meaning that he is all wise and all knowing. |
| 1:40.0 | We cannot gain true wisdom outside of him. |
| 1:43.1 | Fearing the Lord means going to him for understanding and seeing him as the basis of true knowledge. |
| 1:50.8 | The possession of wisdom is founded upon a fear of God, or in other words, a trust in his goodness and authority. |
| 1:59.9 | The next section of today's Proverbs reading advises the reader to listen to |
| 2:05.8 | write authority. The author addresses the reader as my son and scripture urges him to listen to God. The son should avoid making the wicked |
| 2:18.2 | his authority. He should run away from their words for they only lead to ruin and violence. And instead, he should run to wisdom. In Proverbs, wisdom is personified. Now this means that wisdom takes on human characteristics. |
