back into Mark today. We're in Chapter 7 through 9. We're continuing to learn

from Jesus' ministry this week as he challenges the authorities of the Pharisees

teaches thousands and heals many. The Pharisees questioned Jesus for

not insisting that his disciples washed their hands before eating. Of course Jesus uses this as a teaching

Nothing that goes into a person can defile them,

but only what comes out of a person can make them unclean.

It's a pattern that Jesus repeats over and over again during the three years in

his ministry. It is the heart that is the root of the evil inside of us. Out of the heart

flows evil thoughts, slander, deceit, self-indulgence, envy, and

more. But once transformed by the gospel, the same heart that overflowed with evil can be a wellspring of gospel fruit.

Jesus attempts to find solace in the Gentile nation of Tyri. He didn't want to be seen,

but his reputation was too big. A Gentile woman approached him, begging for her

daughter to be healed. Jesus utters what sounds like an insult, but it's really him saying

it's not yet time for the Gentiles to know him.

But this woman was persistent and believed in the abundance of Christ.

She knew there would be enough of Jesus to heal her daughter.

And Jesus honored her faith. Jesus journeyed back into Israel, teaching
