Welcome to a year in the Bible with daily grace. The Bible tells one big story of

redemption and we want to spend five minutes every day journeying through the Bible from start to finish, and exploring how all of it

points to Jesus. Hey, hey, welcome back to a year in the Bible with Daily Grace. My name is

Katie, and today we are continuing in the book of Mark. Let's dive in to

chapters four through 6 together. These chapters are packed with

the examples of Jesus' ministry. We begin with Jesus teaching about the kingdom

of God using parables. He is the master of teaching deep theological truths

using examples of everyday surroundings. In chapter 4, Jesus used parables to teach us about the coming kingdom of God and how it will be received among men.

He describes the kingdom of God as a small mustard seed, seemingly insignificant and small, but yielding great return for those who planted.

In the present day, a life obeying God may seem foolish.

After all, chasing things of this world, like money or significance, relationships, comfort, pleasure,

they're all tangible.

Our culture is built around them, but a life following Jesus yields eternal wealth and eternal comfort and eternal belonging and

eternal pleasure.

It's the plant that actually grows taller in the long run.

It's the true thing that we seek after. After the crowd subsided, the disciples

and Jesus hopped into a boat and continued further travels. A great storm approached.

The wind howled, the waves began to crash over the boat. But Jesus slept calmly. The disciples woke him up in a panic, and with one sentence he silenced the storm.

Even the winds and the waves obeyed him.

When they landed on the other side of the sea,

we see Jesus' compassion towards man.

In chapter 5, we see Jesus approaching people at their lowest in the most desperate of situations.
