0:27.4	Grace. My name is Stephanie and today we're finishing the Book of Luke going
0:31.8	over chapters 22, 23, and 24. Remember, we're in Passion
0:36.6	Week, which is the week leading up to the crucifixion. Yesterday we looked at the events
0:41.2	that likely occurred Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday. Today we're picking up on Wednesday.
0:46.0	We see that Passover is coming, so preparations are being made. Passover was typically observed on Thursday evening.
0:54.0	So Peter and John are given instructions to prepare the Passover meal,
0:58.0	along with a man who owned the upper room, who was
1:04.3	officially the day of Passover.
1:06.3	We read about the First Lord's Supper.
1:08.8	It's here that Jesus initiates the beginning of the new covenant.
1:13.1	Jesus breaks bread with his disciples,
1:15.0	and as they partake of the Passover meal,
1:17.7	he uses the elements to serve as tangible reminders
1:21.1	of his sacrifice. He revealed that he will be the ultimate Passover Lamb.
1:26.0	His blood that will be spilt for them would deliver his people, not from the oppression of foreign nations,
1:32.0	but from the crushing oppression of sin.
1:35.6	His blood would be the means from death to new life.
1:39.3	Jesus was eager to partake of this meal with his disciples.
