Let's dive right in.

Today we are going to cover chapters 10 through 12.

So chapter 10 is the end of Jeremiah's temple sermon. In this chapter we read a

distinction between God and idols. This chapter is a stark reminder that there is none like our God. There is none like him.

God's people are about to be taken into captivity and that land will be swarming with idols.

These idols are man-made, carved with wood, decorated with silver and gold,

beautiful on the outside perhaps, but completely lifeless and powerless.

In contrast, God is great and mighty and worthy of worship. He is the true God, the living God, the everlasting King.

Unlike the lifeless idols, God is living and active.

He exhibits wrath against injustice.

He speaks a word and the earth is created and the world established.

He brings mist, lightning, and the wind.

But because of their evil deeds and idle worship, the cry of God's people in captivity will be,

Woe is me!

Their tent will be destroyed, their possessions plundered, their children will be no more.

The chapter ends with Jeremiah petitioning for the people.

He confesses man's dependence on God. He also begs for God's mercy, even asking that his

wrath be shared with the nations around them who have introduced the people to these idols.
