| 0:00.0 | Welcome to a year in the Bible with Daily Grace. The Bible tells one big story of |
| 0:07.6 | redemption and we want to spend five minutes every day journeying through the Bible from start to finish, and exploring |
| 0:16.1 | how all of it points to Jesus. Hey friends welcome back to a year in the Bible with daily grace. My name is |
| 0:29.7 | Tiffany and I can't believe we are almost done with Isaiah. Only six chapters to go in our |
| 0:36.4 | journey. I hope you have loved it as much as I have. Yesterday we ended our time with the glorious reminder of our future home in the new heaven and new earth. |
| 0:48.0 | Today we receive a message directly from Jesus as we study Isaiah |
| 0:53.4 | chapter 61 through 63. |
| 0:57.2 | The beauty of Isaiah 61 is that Jesus himself |
| 1:01.0 | tells us he is the fulfillment of these verses. Jesus had just begun his |
| 1:07.0 | earthly ministry when he returned to his hometown of Nazareth. As was his custom he entered the synagogue and read from the scroll of |
| 1:16.2 | Isaiah. He read Isaiah 61 versus 1 through 2. We then read in Luke Chapter 4 |
| 1:24.1 | 20 through 21. He then rolled up the scroll, gave it back to the |
| 1:29.7 | attendant and set down, and the eyes of everyone in the synagogue were fixed on him. He began by saying to them, |
| 1:37.8 | today as you listen, this scripture has been fulfilled. |
| 1:43.6 | Jesus made it clear that he is the anointed messenger |
| 1:47.8 | Isaiah spoke of over 700 years before. God sent Jesus to bring good news, proclaim liberty, heal the |
| 1:57.6 | broken hearted, and give freedom to the prisoners. Jesus' defeat of sin on our behalf brings liberty and freedom to our souls. |
| 2:07.2 | When Jesus announced himself as the fulfillment of these verses in Isaiah 61, he was declaring that the new covenant had arrived. |
| 2:17.3 | As we moved to verses 4 through 9, more than likely the exiles in Babylon read the remainder of this chapter as the happy |
| 2:26.0 | future when they would return to Jerusalem and rebuild the city. |
| 2:30.6 | While that was not a wrong interpretation for them, these verses have greater meaning for us today as we awake the end times. |
| 2:38.0 | These verses speak to the building of the church. |
