Welcome to a year in the Bible with daily grace. The Bible tells one big story of

0:07.0

redemption and we want to spend five minutes every day journeying through the Bible from start to finish, and exploring how all of it

0:16.8

points to Jesus. Hey Daily Grace family, welcome back. My name is Tiffany and it has been so

0:29.1

fun to walk through Isaiah with you. I can't believe it but we are nearing the end of this

0:34.6

exciting book. As we take a look at chapters 58 through 60 today I want to take a

0:40.3

moment to remind us of a few things. In a big book like this it can be easy to forget

0:46.0

the overarching themes and time periods for these prophecies. First we want to

0:51.8

remember that these final chapters of the book are meant to be an

0:55.7

1:01.4

great significance for the church as they speak to the glorious new heaven and new earth that awaits followers of Christ.

1:10.0

As we chat through each chapter, we will make these distinctions as well.

1:14.8

Next, we want to remember that all of Isaiah declares the glory of God.

1:20.0

We will see several key passages in our chapters today that remind us that God does all things for His glory.

1:27.6

So with these things in mind, let's dig in to chapter 58.

1:32.2

This chapter begins with God addressing Isaiah. He is to

1:36.8

cry loudly like a ram's horn and tell the people of their transgressions. God is calling out his people for their

1:45.1

hypocritical worship. Their fasting meant nothing and it was merely a facade.

1:50.6

They only did it in order to seek blessing from the Lord and not out of true worship.

1:57.4

Isaiah then tells them what genuine worship looks like. These words spoken by Isaiah mirror exactly what Jesus

2:06.3

taught over 700 years later. Those who love the Lord and desire to do what he delights will love their neighbor.

2:16.0

Loving our neighbor means not to neglect the poor and the needy.

2:21.0

Those who fast in worship do it because they have food to give up.
