Summary

I CANNOT express the power of surrender in quieting the nervous system. It is literally everything. If you are doing your JournalSpeak, meditating with loving kindness for yourself, and making sure to quiet the debating society in your head about whether or not your pain is due to a structural abnormality (it's not), then perhaps the reason you are still struggling is because you care too much, or you're trying too hard. I often say, "love more, care less". This episode is about exactly that. I reached out to the sage Dan Buglio of Pain Free You to engage in a dialogue about this today with me on the Pod. It is my heartfelt hope that this discussion yields a nugget of truth or two that allow you to surrender completely - to stop giving your pain and symptoms the energy of fear and overwhelm. When you are able to arrive at a place of "I give up. I don't care if I hurt or not," you have discovered the holy grail of mind/body recovery. Even if you think this impossible, Dan and I have some guidance for you. Allow it to sink in. The life you save is your own. XOOX n. potentially suffering, which is totally unacceptable to me, how to feel better by taking the energy

0:34.9

away from your pain, what I like to call not caring if you heard or not.

0:40.9

It's a very controversial topic on my journal speak page, and it is a very difficult concept

0:46.3

to explain.

0:47.8

But the truth of the matter is, if you're thinking about brain science, we are 99% energy,

0:55.0

don't quote me on that go ask Einstein, but we are basically energy, all of us.

1:01.2

And if we give energy toward this pain and this suffering, we are unable to move from

1:08.2

fight or flight to rest and repair.

1:10.4

But if we take that energy away by saying, whatever, I give up, I surrender, if you're

1:15.8

going to hurt me, hurt me, if you're not going to hurt, don't hurt, I don't care anymore.

1:20.0

Immediately, you can feel that whoosh in your nervous system, the relaxing, the total

1:25.7

relief that comes from that beat change, that move from, I'm desperate to get well to,

1:33.6

oh, whatever, I can't fight anymore, so do what you'll do to me.

1:37.8

It's amazing how quickly the pain starts to wane when you do that.

1:41.5

So I was thinking, how am I going to explain this amazing miracle of brain science to people

1:50.1

1:51.8

And when you're suffering, that's really obviously all you can think about.

1:56.2

And so I was thinking about that.
