daily grace. My name is Jenny and today we are talking about 2 Corinthians 4

When we left off yesterday, Paul was explaining to the Corinthians

how the new covenant has affected everything,

especially forgiveness.

And in this next section of 2 Corinthians, we see Paul do three things.

He continues his discussion on the New Covenant.

He talks about the weariness of the body, and finally he defends himself against accusations against his character.

So let's dive right into it.

Paul begins chapter 4 by explaining how the new covenant affects everything in his ministry.

This is important to understand because if the Corinthians act deceptively, then they tamper with the message of the gospel.

However, before we even get into the details of how the Corinthians would tamper with the

message of the gospel, let's talk for a moment about the meaning of a new covenant.

You may remember that in the Old Testament, God made several covenants with the Israelites.

So what are covenants? Covenants are promises made

between God and His people. However when Christ came he fulfilled the old covenants and a new covenant was put in its place.

God's new covenant is that he will forgive our sins and restore our fellowship with him,

if we turn our hearts to him. And so this new covenant is made possible because of Jesus' sacrifice on the cross and the enabling of the Holy Spirit.
