Welcome to a year in the Bible with Daily Grace. The Bible tells one big story of redemption,

0:09.1

and we want to spend five minutes every day journeying through the Bible from start to

0:14.3

finish and exploring how all of it points to Jesus.

Hey everyone, welcome back to another episode of our podcast, The Bible in a Year with Daily

0:28.2

Grace. My name is Miranda, and I'll be your host during our time together. Today, we

0:33.4

are looking at first Samuel 25-27. We left off last time with an emotional confrontation

0:40.1

between David and Saul. David spared Saul's life in a cave, and Saul told David that he

1:29.6

The story takes place during a feast day, during the harvest, where it is very customary

1:34.4

to give away generously to others out of the abundance the Lord had provided. And David

1:40.0

asked for such generosity from Nebel for him and for his men. Even though we would think

1:45.6

the feuding and fleeing from Saul would be over, it was not. David really does not have

1:50.8

a home still, and life is not the easiest for him and his men. But when David's message

1:56.3

is given to Nebel, Nebel does not have any intention of giving anything to David. And

2:02.3

Nebel is wealthy. It's not like it would hurt him to be generous. And not only does he

2:08.1

say no, he takes time to properly insult David. He acts like David is someone unimportant
