and we want to spend five minutes every day journeying through the Bible from start to

finish and exploring how all of it points to Jesus.

Hey everyone, welcome back to another episode of our podcast, The Bible in a Year of Daily

0:27.4

Grace. My name is Miranda and I'll be your host during our time together. Today we're

0:32.9

looking at 1st Samuel 22 to 24. There are many sad stories in the Bible, but 1st Samuel

0:41.5

22 contains one of the most somber scenes I've ever read. David is continuing to flee from

0:47.6

Saul. It's gotten so bad that he has to leave his mom and dad with the King of Moab for

He is beginning to think that even his servants are against him, and he is especially frustrated

over finding out about the covenant between Jonathan, his own son, and David. Saul rebukes

Jonathan about this as he lounges under a tamerous tree, and one of his servants, Doag the

1:36.9

Edomite, takes advantage of the situation. Though the text does not tell us this specifically,

1:44.3

Doag definitely is trying to earn some power and prestige with Saul. He tells them about

1:50.2

the interaction he witnessed between the Himalek and David, and how the priest helped David

1:55.7

by giving him food and a sword. Saul is furious, and he calls the Himalek and all the priest

2:03.5

to come before him. When he accuses the Himalek of conspiring against him, the Himalek responds

2:09.4

by telling Saul what is true. The man's Saul is trying to kill is the most faithful person

2:15.2

to him and his whole kingdom. The Himalek had inquired of God for him, but he had no idea
