redemption and we want to spend five minutes every day journeying through the Bible from start to finish, and exploring how all of it

points to Jesus. Hey everyone, thanks for joining me today on a year in the Bible with daily grace.

My name is Jenny, and today we are in our second day of 1st Corinthians.

Today we are going over 1st Corinthians 4 through 6 and these

chapters are packed with good stuff so let's get started. For those of you who are

just joining us first Corinthians is a letter that Paul wrote to the Church of Corinth, which is located in Greece.

Paul is writing to the Church because there is a serious division in the Church in a departure from Christ's teachings. This is evident as we read

chapter 4. The first thing Paul addresses here is the ways that the people of Corinth

are boasting. This boasting is causing division in the church.

More than that, as Christians, we are called to live a life of humility like Christ,

not a life where we can boast about our accomplishments.

After addressing the Church of Corinth's issue with boasting,

Paul moves on to discuss reports of sexual misconduct among the church members.

In this section Paul instructs that Corinthians to remove anyone who is

participating in sexual immorality from the church. His reasoning for instructing this is presented

through an illustration of making bread. He explains that if leaven is added to

dough, it affects the whole dough. There is no way to separate the leaven so that it will only

affect parts of the dough. In the same way, church members who have departed from Christ's

teachings affect the whole body of Christ.

In Chapter 6, Paul continues to address divisions within the Church by explaining why the Church

should not judge outsiders. The first reason was that they
