points to Jesus. Hey everybody welcome back to a year in the Bible with daily grace. My name is

Jenny and we are already on the last day in 1st Corinthians. Is it just me or did that go by fast?

Today we will be going over chapters 13 through 16. We will be exploring what Paul has to say about love, the order of worship, and the importance of remembering the resurrection.

So let's get started.

Yesterday we talked about how Paul revealed how people were to use their spiritual gifts in love and for the church.

Today Paul takes a deeper dive into looking at love in what may be one of the most read chapters in the Bible.

We often find 1 Corinthians 13 at weddings or even on Valentine's Day.

However, the purpose of 1st Corinthians 13 is not just to talk about how we should treat our spouses or loved ones, rather

it is how we are to treat the body of Christ. We are to love one another by laying aside our

wants and needs and die to sell for the benefit of others.

After all, this is exactly how Christ loved us, and while spiritual gifts may pass away his love well remain. Paul then

transitions from talking about loving one another to order in the church. This is

something that sometimes confuses readers. As we read through this passage,

we also need to remember that some of Paul's instructions need to be read through the lens of the Corinth

culture at the time.

That said, we can deduce that Paul was providing structure to church gatherings.

Structure in the church, even if it looks slightly different than Paul's recommendations to the Corinthians, is something that is still important for believers to practice today.

As our God is a God of order, not chaos.

And as image bears, we should seek to mirror this

in all things, even our worship.
