Summary

If you'd like to join us for our next study, it starts May 28th - "Gaudete Et Exsultate - On the Call to Holiness in Today's World" by Pope Francis. If you'd like to read it, you can find it at your local Catholic book store or order it on Amazon

In this episode we talk about how to thrive during the summer, when we aren't in our normal schedules. We chat about some strategies to continue growing in our relationship with God and flourish in whatever situation we are in. We focus on the categories of rest, play, prayer, connection, beauty, self care, and community. We hope you enjoy this conversation.

If you'd like to host a coffee time, lunch, or dinner with a few women, here are some questions to put on the table to spark some good conversation.

One Thing We Love This Week:

Discussion Questions:

  1. How can I more deeply connect with the people God has entrusted to me and with the Lord this summer?
  2. What is most important to me to have as foundations that will rightly order the rest of my day?
  3. How does God want you to play this summer in ways that feed your heart and allow you to receive His joy?
  4. How can you cultivate the discipline of pausing for beauty and holy wonder?

Journal Questions:

  1. What is my spiritual plan this summer?
  2. Where am i growing with the Lord?
  3. What does it look like for me to have ongoing fellowship with the Holy Spirit?
  4. What do I need to do for self care this summer?

Quote to Ponder:

"Vacation time offers the unique opportunity to pause before the thought-provoking spectacles of nature, a wonderful 'book' within reach of everyone, adults and children. In contact with nature, a person rediscovers his correct dimension, rediscovers himself as a creature, small but at the same time unique with a 'capacity for God' because interiorly he is open to the infinite"- Pope Benedict XVI

I feel like we have come to the end of May and it is finished. We can exhale. It is finished. We've done an eighth grade graduation.

1:10.9

We've done a first communion. We have done just all the end of the year items that you are supposed to do.

1:16.9

1:24.9

We really should all be on the same schedule of Canadians and Americans because I've got to say, well, we were in that last month of everybody has to push it but wants to be on summer break.

1:32.9

You all are posting pictures of yourselves at the beach. It's just not right. It's just not right.

I know, girl. I know.

1:41.9

Well, even in the South, though, because I mean in Canada, y'all, they're still in school. But so we are in Washington state. When I grew up in Washington state, we didn't get out of school until like the middle towards the end of June.

1:50.9

I mean, since I moved to the South, everybody gets out of school in like April and we're like, what? But no, it's like May. You're done already, which is kind of an anomaly. So I just want to say it's a Southern thing, Heather. It's not just a Canadian thing.

2:00.9

Okay, fine.

2:03.9

Well, speaking of summer, dear friends, we're going to talk about how to flourish, how to keep a schedule, how to keep growing with Christ in the summer when our schedules are a bit different. So we're going to talk a bit about establishing relationships with Christ and maybe putting some organ in our summer schedules, but also play and also self-care.

2:21.9

There's a great saying that you have to, you have got to nourish to flourish, I think Michelle sent that one. So I think especially as you know, kids get out of school and you're thinking of what to do with the kids or maybe you know, your your semesters ended in college or just, you know, you got some summer plans and maybe you're still at work, but you've got some time off also.

2:39.9

And I think there's just many times just psychologically be going to go into a different mode in the summer.
