Summary

Andy and Brendan are back from the holiday weekend recording on the fifth anniversary of the start of this podcast, a misguided, silly, but often rewarding endeavor. They briefly discuss their weekends before a separate tennis chat on the U.S. Open in New York and what golf might learn, or not learn, from that. There’s also some brief amusement over Martin Kaymer’s dissatisfaction with the Cleeks. Then they get to the European Ryder Cup team rounding out with six picks from Luke Donald and what the Aberg selection says about the current state of golf. There’s also some review of the U.S. roster and where it might run into points of contention against some of the personalities on this now finished Euro side. That also leads to a separate side reminiscence on the internal disaster that was the 2018 U.S. team when this podcast started, and whether there’s the potential for that with this group. The Walker Cup at the Old Course is given a recap, with some thoughts on how to improve or tweak it going forward. News hits on the CJ Cup taking over the Byron Nelson.

0:46.0	Brendan, I'm doing great. You know, a little chill in the air this morning, and days are shorter, not getting light as light as early, and we're here.
0:59.0	5th anniversary, too. What an exciting day.
1:02.0	I'm not in my car. You are in the shed. I'm in my home office. We should have adequate technical capabilities today, maybe better than average audio.
1:14.0	Yeah, 50th anniversary. Let's do some naval gazing. Let's talk all about ourselves. No, I don't know. It was September 5th, so we made it five years by the grace of God and a lot of stupidity.
1:26.0	So yeah, it's pretty fun. We're excited about the next five, or I don't know, we'll see. We'll see what comes, but we're very happy with what we've done with what you guys have done to support us to get to this point.
1:37.0	How was your weekend?
1:39.0	It was okay. My wife was a little under the weather, so didn't really do much of anything. I was. That sounds great.
1:47.0	It was one of one of one defense weekend, where I was a husband and the toddler, you know, and went to the park a bunch, watched, watched a ton of the US open tennis.
2:01.0	I'm like so locked into the tournament. I was up late, even late West Coast for for any sporting event.
2:11.0	They both matches. They do a New York City at like two in the morning. It's crazy.
2:17.0	Last night's very of center match was unbelievable. I will tennis boy over here.
2:25.0	Let me, I'm a relate back to golf here. So last year, I watched, I'll never forget last year, you know, we had moved to California. Everybody.
2:34.0	Everybody, a lot of people in the Bay Area don't have air conditioning. We're one of those people. And last year, this time of year, we had an unprecedented heat wave.
2:44.0	And, you know, our house would just get like it would be like 95 in our house during the day. And at night here, obviously it gets cool. It gets down into the 60s, into the 50s.
2:57.0	So I was like staying up.
3:00.0	I was sleeping like in the living room with all the windows wide open.
3:05.0	Like my wife's like, you have to sleep out there in case somebody breaks in, you know.
