You may remember seeing the story last week.

I did.

I didn't think much of it, so I didn't include it in the rundown.

But the FBI arrested one of their informants and charged him with lying to his handler about ties between President Joe Biden, his son Hunter, and a Ukrainian energy company.

The agency says Alexander Smyrnov falsely told FBI agents in June of 2020 that executives associated with the Ukrainian energy company, Burisma, paid Hunter and Joe Biden $5 million each in 2015 or 2016.

I have no idea whether any of that is true or not,

any aspect at all, but it's important context for what I'm about to tell you. We're now being told Smyrnov allegedly had high-level Russian intelligence contacts, according to newly filed

court documents. In filings on Tuesday, special counsel David

Weiss revealed that after his arrest last week, Alexander Smyrnov told the FBI that officials

with Russian intelligence were involved in passing a story to him about Hunter Biden. We don't

know what this story is or whether it has anything to do with the aforementioned alleged payments from Burisma to Hunter and Joe Biden.

Naturally, some in Washington are attempting to turn this into Russiagate 2.0 by discrediting every investigation into Hunter.
