Russian President Vladimir Putin has made clear he wants to restart nuclear arms cuts talks as soon as possible,

McCremlin said, in response to comments by new U.S. President Donald

Trump. Trump said in these last days he wanted to work towards cutting nuclear arms,

adding that he thought Russia and China might support reducing their own weapons capabilities.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitri Peskov said the ball was in Washington's court, using a metaphor that seems oddly discontinuous with nuclear weapons.

Katrina, very good evening to you.

Your husband, the late Professor Cohen, for 20 years emphasized to me, there's the danger, those nuclear weapons. We don't know what the

future holds. And he was talking before there was a Ukraine catastrophe, before there was even

a hope of Mr. Putin running for a third term. It was very chaotic back in 2008, 2009. But nuclear weapons were always a worry to Steve.

They remained a worry to everybody who's sympathetic with the danger here. Has that been lost?

Trump sees it. Is it our generation, the boomers who see it and the younger people don't? Good

evening to you. Thank you, John. I do think there has been virtually no real

discussion of the grave threat of nuclear war, sufficient commensurate with the real danger in our

politics. You know, the doomsday clock, which has been with us for many decades, moves tomorrow.

And it's remained at 90 seconds to midnight, the most perilous position since its creation in 1947.

But I think when it's unveiled tomorrow the clock, which is a gimmick, but an important gimmick to bring some attention to this grave threat, it will have moved closer to midnight than any time in its creation.

And I think that it's important that Putin issued this statement.
