Hi, I'm Gary Stearman. Today we have a guest who's an expert on the Shroud of Turin.

The And our guest expert is Russ Brayalt.

Many of you may have seen some of his work.

We've had him at many of our conferences.

And Russ, it's a pleasure to have you in studio.

Gary, it's just great to be back with you here and, you know, I'm just excited to be here.

Now, I think anyone who has in the least studied the Gospels has read about the death, burial, and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ.

And I'm looking at John chapter 19, where Joseph of Arimathea comes, and he got permission to take away the body of Jesus.

And through a series of events Jesus was

wrapped in a very special shroud. Yes, you want. And that shroud is not like anything that

you might imagine. I mean, the very structure of it, the construction of it means that it has a special meaning.

Yes. Well, the connection to Joseph of Arimathea is very important because he,

because the scripture makes a point of telling us that he was a rich man and he was also a member of the Sanhedron.

He had, therefore he had access to the temple store.

And so when he purchased the linen shroud that Jesus would be wrapped in, and when you

look at the shroud, it is a three to one herringbone pattern weave, very distinctive, very, very expensive,

and therefore very rare, doable in first century using first century loom technology, but expensive.

Now, so in other words, the shroud is consistent with what the scripture would call fine twisted linen.

Now, fine twisted linen is what the high priest was supposed to wear before he entered into the Holy of Holies.

So I believe that Joseph of Arimathea purchased a linen cloth worthy of a high priest about

to enter the Holy of Holies. That's the significance of the manufacture of the shroud.
