Politico just ran an article arguing that there's a desperate need to reduce regulations that are

holding our economy back. Now their focus was on the number of jobs that now require an occupational

license. Most of the impact is at the state level. In some states there are over 70 professions that

require an occupational license, including working as an interior decorator or even a delivery man.

And that doesn't include a lot of other jobs that require some sort of licensing by local governments.

Now okay, it might not sound like a big deal just go get a license, right?

But it's not that easy. Let's say you want to cut hair, become a barber. On average, in order to

get the government's permission, a person has to spend over a year in training and then pay $130

and fees in Nevada. The education and training period to cut hair is two and a half years.

In one state, Alabama, it's hassle free. No license needed. You want to cut hair, set up shop,

grab some scissors and have at it. To become an interior designer in Nevada, Louisiana, Florida,

and DC, you better be prepared to spend six years of your life in training and fork over 400

smackers before you can tell somebody how to rearrange furniture. Those examples are just the tip

of the iceberg folks. Government regulators are just out of control. Big government regulations,

the killing opportunities, killing jobs, strangling the economy, and electing Democrats.
