On April 28th, the New York Times editorial board went into a panic.

They'd heard rumors that Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy planned to retire.

Their editorial that day was an open letter to Justice Kennedy begging him to stay because

America needed him.

They used flattery.

They praised him as the most powerful member of the court because he was willing to

side with liberals when it mattered.

They used fear.

They told Kennedy that Republicans were already smelling blood, a chance to put another

gorse, such like conservative on the bench, someone who would lock in a right wing majority

for a lifetime.

And they used their Trump card.

They asked Justice Kennedy if he was really willing to hand President Trump who desecrates

civility and decorum the chance to fill his seat.

Think about your legacy, Justice Kennedy?

Well, eight weeks later, the New York Times editors and everybody else got Justice Kennedy's

answer.

All their flattery, all their whining, all of their begging, all their fear tactics went

nowhere.

Justice Kennedy is officially retiring and President Trump gets to pick a successor.

And Trump went out there and said that Kennedy told him that he was glad to be retiring

so that Trump could choose his successor.
