Welcome to slow more. My guest today needs no introduction. I'm going to spend the next hour with

Ruby Wax. You know Ruby as a very successful comedian, a TV writer, and a performer for over 25 years,

but she also holds a master's degree in mindfulness-based cognitive therapy from Oxford University,

and because of her effort to spread mindfulness and mental health awareness,

her very specifically funny effort and the way she does it, she was awarded

an OBE, an order of British Empire, which is a recognition reserved for those who have major contributions in arts and science but also in

charitable work and she was awarded an OBE in 2015.

She's the author of several books, Sain New World and A Mindfulness Guide for the

Fraseled, have been to the number one spot in the Sunday Times Best Seller list.

Her book How to be Human, The Manual, has been also a major

bestseller and she, through her tours around the world, have gone almost everywhere to try and talk about her own personal experience

from depression to happiness from the noise of the world that we live in to mindfulness.

In 2017, she launched a frazzled cafe

in partnership with Marx and Spencer in the UK,

a place for people to go and find sanctuary if you want a place for mindfulness and

to discuss challenges in life and in November 2017 she was announced as the

president of the UK's leading relationship support charity, which is called Relate.
