Hello there I'm Chuck Todd and this is the Chuck Todd cast.

So before the 2018 midterms we traveled to four states.

I spent a lot of time in Arizona, Texas, Nevada, and Florida and at the time we said that

the Sun Belt essentially represented the future and most important battleground of American

politics.

That eventually the Sun Belt states would replace the Midwestern states as the most important

battlegrounds in.

It does appear at least in some cases the future is here, at least for Arizona.

Northern state is going to tell us more about the direction of the two parties than the

Grand Canyon state in 2024.

Why do I say that?

On Monday, you had progressive Democrat Congressman Ruben Gallego announcing that he's running

for the Senate.

It sets up a potential freeway race that would include the incumbent Senator, Houston

Sonoma, who is of course the former Democrat and now turned independent.

You don't know she's going to run for re-election.

There's even some speculation out there of Republicans are eyeing a recruitment of her although

I doubt she wants to run in a Republican primary.

Meanwhile, Republicans have to decide do they continue riding the Trump, Kerry Lake, Blake

Masters, train, even after it cost them the cost of the party to Senate seats, a governorship,

every statewide office, 11 electoral votes in 2020, or do they return to their McCain,

Jeff, Lake, Doug, Ducey, Roots?
