Hello and welcome to the Rusty Quill Gaming podcast. I'm your host and normally GM Alex Newell and with me today I have.

James Ross, Rayman Ray, Ben Meredith. And there's no Lydia Nicholas today who is normally our fifth but sadly couldn't be here because she's all successful.

Yeah, she's off being impressive. Being really impressive. So we're talking about the future.

Yeah. So we'll be covering our season one catch-up without her.

But this is a catch-up intended for either people who are brand new to the podcast

and saw a daunting number of incredibly well-made episodes and thought, you know what,

I might get a catch-up first.

And old listeners who have been listening over the course of more than a year at this point,

and are trying to remember everything ahead of the season two.

With that in mind, we should probably start telling people about the world that our story happens in.

So, the world as it stands geographically is more or less the world as we have it now,

by which I mean, you know, all of the continents are there, broadly speaking, all of the countries are there.

Historically, very different because in this world, magic is real.

It is set in the time period of 18...

It's vaguely Georgia Victorian post-industrial revolution.

It's explicitly a historical, so we've mashed up lots of different bits of the 19th century,

stuck them in a blender and strained out the tasty treats.

So you can sum it up with Lord Byron and Albert Einstein, both are living at the same time right now.

One can only assume that they are best buds based on nothing at all.

But yeah, it's deliberately a historical and like we're saying, magic's real in this world and has been made into lots of industrial processes.

Because, yes, you may not have a telephone, but if you have the ability to contact people magically over a long distance and it's fairly easy to do and you have someone specialising

that job, you've basically got a telephone. So a lot of the world will be using a lot of magic
