Okay, so that worked. I think I'm just going to keep repeating.

The Royals can't make it. The Royals won't make it. The royals are not headed to the postseason.

Prove me wrong.

And wow, they did in a very tiny way on Tuesday because they didn't look very good.

They didn't look any better than they did in all these losses that they've been piling up.

But somehow playing a really disgusting Washington national teams that isn't very good at all that hasn't scored runs either and is having the same

trouble the Royals are, they got to extra innings scoreless.

After a hapless night of stranding runners on base and not getting any kind of a

clutch hit and deer in the headlights look of all the players and coaches and manager

queue and everybody and the broadcaster's even sounding down.

Royals get to start the 10th inning with a runner on second base and no outs.

And lo and behold, what happens?

Bobby Witt comes up and hits a little dribbler to short that is going to be a tough play for the shortstop because it's rolling slow.

He's going to have to field it and throw on the run and get Bobby Witt who's speeding the first base. And he does so, but he bibles it just enough to where he throws it a little bit wild at

first. It's an infield single. The ball gets away from the first baseman and his bell scores

from second base and the Royals take a one-nothing lead. Then Bobby Witt steals second. They walk

Salvador Perez. You're like, here we go. First and second, one out, bust this thing wide open, and the Royals get nothing from there.

They take a one-nothing lead to the bottom of the ninth inning.

Lucas Ersig comes in, runner at second, nobody out, and he gets a strikeout to start the thing.

And it gets better from there.
