This day, June 5th, 1968.

Robert F. Kennedy is assassinated in Los Angeles.

There are, of course, many ways in which we could talk about this monumental incident.

We want to focus on one fascinating wrinkle and one fascinating character who was on the scene, Roosevelt Rosie Greer, who was the former Penn State and NFL football player who was on the scene and helped disarm and

detain the assassin. Greer was a legendary football player and then after his career he

ended up sort of fairly quickly transitioning into media and successfully

doing so and then he found his way into politics and in particular into

RFK's inner circle and so he was there on that night to help wrestle the

gun away from Sirhan Sirhan after he killed Kennedy.

And then from there, Rosie Greer has this sort of forest-gumpian life, finding his way into

lots of interesting political and social circles and

circumstances aligning himself with all sorts of shifting political wins.

Most recently he ends up endorsing Donald Trump in a really interesting way so you know we do this

from time to time on the show we kind of just pick an interesting character and do a little

bit of a profile of a fascinating person or whatever and
