Summary

We made it to Paris! Despite Eurostar’s best efforts to thwart our journey, Catherine, David and Matt are on site all together at a Grand Slam for the first time since January 2020, and we’re very excited about that.

After detailing our journey, we get stuck into the draws. How do we feel about Djokovic, Alcaraz and Nadal all being in the same half? Who will capitalise in the other half? Who could stand in Iga Swiatek’s way? And who will emerge from the bottom half headlined by Naomi Osaka vs Amanda Anisimova?

Well folks, despite Eury Starr's best efforts, we, the tennis podcast, myself, David Matt,

0:26.0

have made it to Paris. They tried to thought us. They threw everything in our direction. They

0:33.2

definitely did thought me, but David, David would not be thwarted. We have made it to Paris. We come

0:41.7

to you from our Airbnb where we're watching much of Zide and that's not me doing a sort of 1970s

0:51.9

comedy, French accent. That is the actual name of the show we are watching and we're very happy to be here

1:01.9

despite the absolute trauma that the travel gods put us through today, David.

1:07.7

Yeah, it wasn't quite what we expected. We built in hours on end and it still wasn't enough

1:15.1

because a lightning strike we were told. I don't think I've ever seen Matt look

1:21.0

more cynical about a public service announcement than the one that they said had caused us to have

1:26.3

a two and a half hour delay before we even got. That wasn't even the first delay, David. Can we

1:30.9

just row back please? There was a delay before we even departed traffic. Traffic. Traffic on the

1:37.8

frame track. The chief of the making announcement to say we delayed due to traffic.

1:43.6

And then lightning on a glorious day. Yeah, we came out the other side of the tunnel in Calais

1:50.0

and you couldn't see a cloud anywhere. And don't give me lightning last night because

1:56.8

several trains before us went through no problem at all. It's all very fishy quite frankly and

2:04.4

I do think the Eurostar should be reimbursing the snacks and alcohol that I had simply no choice

2:10.7

for to purchase. And boy did you? About 90 minutes into the delay. So folks, we have made it to Paris.

2:18.5

We didn't make it to the draw. So this French Open draw show is going to be a banger.

2:25.7

Yes, I haven't had to do a bit of swatting up. We haven't talked about the argument with the taxi driver yet.

2:32.6

Oh, well, I thought if we chronologically detailed everything that went wrong with the journey,
