Welcome back, Mike. It's great to be back.

Let's talk about a subject that a lot of Catholics in particular struggle with when trying to articulate the faith

to others.

And as you have so greatly taught us that when we are in trouble, go to the fathers.

And that subject is purgatory.

Yes.

And there's ample testimony to the ancient doctrine in the writings of the fathers.

But, you know, it's there and it's implicit in the New Testament.

And it's fairly explicit in one of the books of the Old Testament as well.

It's certainly explicit in much of the devotion of the Jews of Jesus' time

because there was this idea of a place of purification after death,

this interim state once you died where you underwent some kind of purification before you

went to your afterlife, however that was conceived in that time.
