On today's edition, we're talking about today in wrestling history.

28 years ago today, Rob Van Dam was forced to vacate the ECW World Television Championship

after holding the belt for 700 days.

Van Dam was injured.

His reign was twice that of any else who held the belt.

The title will be claimed by Super Crazy who won a tournament to determine the champion,

and then Super Crazy eventually lost that to Rhino.

That was ECW back in the day.

But think about this.

In today's world, we're used to long title run.

Someone holds it for 700 days or 800 days or 1,000 days.

But Rob Van Dam and ECW holding the television championship and when

people think of ECW depends what type of fan you are but one fan might just go oh

that was that was just blood and guts let's wrap the ropes and barbed wire and fall

into them and Bailey get out and it's more of a oh my god I can't believe

they're doing this but some matches like Rob Van Dam like Yoshihiro tigiri little guido

maratano these characters even kid cash obviously there's so many a great at wrestlers in ECW but

as time would go on suddenly it wasn't just, let's put our hands and wrapped in duct tape and put it in glass and fight each other.

That, to me, that brought in the audience that didn't expect to see that.

They didn't want to see Shaw Michaels or Brett Hart or Hulk Hogan or Machiman.

They wanted to see two guys, duct tape, glass, punch each other in the faces.
