I'm Katie Rich, the deputy editor of vanityfair.com, and I'm here with Vanityfair's film critic Richard Lawson.

And we'll be joined later by Vanity Fair's digital director Mike Hogan for our conversation

with Rob Reiner, who is a very exciting special guest.

His career basically defies definition.

He became famous playing a guy named Meathead.

He directed a comedy classic for his first ever film.

And then he got an Oscar nomination for Best Picture all in the process.

His new film is called Being Charlie which is very personal it's a script

written by his son based on his son's own experience with heroin addiction

so we took the opportunity to talk to Reiner about that film and his long expansive career that has overlapped with our

obsession with the Oscars and a lot of great stories along the way. But first, instead

of the week in Oscar News, we're going to look at the week in superhero news

because the, basically the only film opening this week

as far as I can tell is Captain America Civil War.

So it's full of Oscar nominees,

like Robert Downey Jr. and Don Chittle etc.

So it totally counts as part of our topic and it's kind of the big going

concern this week and you and I both like this movie.
