My guest today is comedy writer Rob Long, who served as the producer of the great sitcom Cheers for years,

writes the weekly martini shot commentary and co-hosts the Glop Culture podcast with Jonah Goldberg and John Podhorrence.

At a live event in New York City, I spoke with Rob about whether Hollywood is out of ideas,

what it's like being a libertarian-leaning conservative in a very progressive industry,

and the role that psychedelics have played in his creative process. Here is the reason

interview with Rob Long. Earlier today, I talked to Rob and I had sent him a note saying,

like, what are we going to talk about? And he said, to be honest, I'm sort of way more interested

in issues of faith and the big questions,

capital B, capital Q these days.

The three things that I think a person is going to have to understand for the future are

the blockchain, machine learning, and Jesus.

So let's start with that.

Can you talk a little bit about what's going on with blockchain machine learning and Jesus?

Yeah.

I guess what I meant by that was that the cliche is always that, you know, we know so many things now and all the mysteries are gone in life.

And so really where does faith belong, right?

Because we're all very smart. And we know that the dragon isn't chasing the sun across the sky every day.

So what do you need to know? Like if these things are all kind of fading away, what are the three things you need to know? And one is the blockchain, really, which I think is

interesting technology. And it's going to be the universal ledger for payments and chain of title

and copyrights and all sorts of things. It's kind of like the book of names. Kind of like the book

of names. Yes. Exactly. Wow. And then the second thing I think is machine learning. We all know the machine learning is big and
