Hello, I'm Dr. Stephen Hassan with another episode of the influence continuum.

I have a special guest, a Protestant scholar with me, and I watched Matthew Taylor,

and I saw a documentary he put together for his institute called

Spiritual Warriors decoding Christian nationalism at the Capitol Riot.

And I said, Matthew, please come on my influence continuum because we need more, in my opinion, real Christians who actually

know the Bible and care about religion to speak out against what's happening in the United States.

So let me just get to your bio real fast. You're a senior scholar at the Institute for Islamic Christian and

Jewish Studies, where you specialize in Muslim Christian dialogue, evangelical and

Pentecostal movements, religious politics in the United States, and American Islam.

You have a published book called Scripture People, Salafi Muslims in

Evangelical Christians America by Cambridge University Press, and it offers an introduction to

the oft-misunderstood Salafi movement in the United States by way of comparison with American evangelicalism.

I want to ask you about that. I'm very interested. And you have a forthcoming book I want to

plug called The Violent Take It by Force, the Christian Movement that is threatening our democracy.

And it tracks the role of Christian leaders,

particularly those from the New Apostolic Reformation Networks,

and that have played such a major role in instigating Christians

to participate in the January 6th Capitol Riot.

And I say coup.
