Hey, thanks for tuning in to The Daily Drive. My name is Mike Bro, and we are currently walking through a story in

John chapter four. In fact, we've already unpacked the

first three chapters of John starting back on New Year's Day, so if you're new to the podcast,

you can go back and you can see where we've been together. We spend just about six or seven minutes

each weekday trying to get to know God better by spending some time in His Word. So let me just

pick up where we left off yesterday. Jesus intentionally

goes to a place that no other Jewish person intentionally went to. It was a place called

Samaria. There was big time strife, racism, and judgmentalism between the two people groups.

They saw each other as, you know, those people. It says this in verse five. So he, Jesus,

came to his town in Samaria called Sychar. Near the plot of ground Jacob had given to his son,

Joseph. Jacob's well was there in Jesus, tired as he was from the journey, sat down by the well.

It was about the sixth hour. Now the Jewish day began at

6 a.m. So you can do the math, and you can see that Jesus was sitting there at that well

at high noon, in the heat of the day. And that well would have been a pretty lonely place around

noon. You see, women in that culture would typically go fill their water pods at dawn or sundown

when it was much, much cooler. Nobody, I mean, nobody came to do that at noon. Unless you didn't want to be seen.
