Summary

Clay Travis reacts to the CFP rankings and digs deeper than just the top 4 or 5 by explaining how he sees some possible rigging going on by the committee to help build resumes. Harry of Against All Odds joins Outkick with his best bets and Clay plays audio from Tua that makes Clay want to draft him even higher. Clay dives into the Panthers and the firing of Ron Rivera and asks the crew what is going to happen with Cam Newton. Geoff Schwartz lives in Charlotte and joins the show to weigh-in on the in-season firing and the future of Cam. Plus, Clay is intrigued with USC (as it looks like they’re retaining Clay Helton) and brings the crew in to discuss what’s happening in So Cal.

We're talking the Ron Rivera firing the college football playoff committee rankings and why I believe there's a rig job in effect. Also we will be talking what makes sense going forward for USC now that there are reports Clay Hilton may be coming back all that more.

Wednesday edition out kick. I hope all of you are having fantastic mornings wherever across the country around the world. You may be as you start off the show with us here.

1:16.3

Number one story as we begin Wednesday is college football playoff rankings came out last night and there were no huge surprises. Although I got to be honest with you.

1:28.3

I think the college football playoff committee is starting to stock the poll to endorse whatever narrative they wish to be in supporting. Let me explain this a little bit.

1:42.3

But first top four unchanged Ohio State LSU Clemson and Georgia.

1:50.3

Simple way to analyze the college football weekend as we advance into conference title games is this.

1:57.3

If Georgia beats LSU they are in and there's no real substantial drama other than what the top four would look like.

2:08.3

And I think it would look like this Ohio State one Clemson to Georgia three and LSU for OK that is what I believe the college football playoff rankings would look like if Georgia upsets LSU.

2:23.3

If that happens no other major outcome nothing else really matters other than that game OK I'll be down in Atlanta I'm looking forward to seeing what that environment is going to be like Georgia with some major health issues major issues that wide receiver LSU around to seven point favorite.

2:43.3

But if you want there to be some drama on Sunday morning when the playoff rankings come out that is what you need to root for is for LSU to beat Georgia because then there will be uncertainty otherwise again if Georgia beats LSU and Clemson goes out and takes care of Virginia and even if Ohio State loses it won't really matter the top four will be basically what I just broke down again expecting everything to happen normally Ohio State one.

3:12.3

Second spot would be Clemson third spot would be Georgia fourth spot would be LSU that's if Georgia pulls off the upset if LSU beats Georgia then I do think there's some drama coming the first question and the biggest question that most people would have is who would be the fourth team and there would only be a couple of options it would be either 12 and one Utah assuming they beat Oregon or it would be.

3:41.3

The winner of Oklahoma Baylor now Friday night is the pack 12 title game just a couple of days from now if Oregon beats Utah then there still won't be very much drama right it'll basically be if Georgia loses then the big 12 title winner would get in Oklahoma Baylor it makes the college football playoff committee decision relatively easy there but if Utah wins then Georgia loses then there would be Georgia.

4:11.3

Drama over whether you take 12 and one Utah or whether you take 12 and one Oklahoma or 12 and one Baylor okay so there are three teams that are still alive for that fourth spot if Georgia loses to LSU everybody following me so far and sometimes this can be confusing here's the second big issue who would be the overall number one seed and I'm going to bring in the crew I'm curious what they think about all this but let me explain the decision making then it would come down to the next one.

4:41.3

I'm going to who has a better resume LSU or Ohio State and I don't see this as remotely difficult in that scenario LSU would have four top 12 wins and I'm not sure that Ohio State would have more than one top 12 win we don't know what the final college football playoff committee rankings would look like but here's where I believe there is some dishonesty at times.

5:10.3

The college football playoff committee can stack the top 25 in ways to allow them to justify whatever decision they reach for instance there's no there's several things about this final poll that I think are being done based on a narrative as opposed to the actual truth first of all Wisconsin is way too highly rated they are number eight overall they would be an underdog

5:40.3

in my opinion on a neutral site field to Florida Alabama and Auburn three teams they are ranked above Florida indisputably which has lost to LSU and which has lost to Georgia has an infinitely better resume than Wisconsin which lost to Illinois six and six Illinois
