Welcome to Richmond Kickers Weekly. I'm your host for this week, Taylor Rockwell. Joining me on the other end of the line. I've got Richmond Kickers head coach David Bilo. David, thank you very much for taking the time on what has been. I'm sure a very busy week for you.

0:28.0

Anytime. So you had a greenville last weekend last Saturday. I think you had north Texas midweek. Now you've got forward Madison coming to town this Saturday evening. How busy of a week has it been in terms of preparing for basically three games in seven or eight days?

0:44.0

Yeah, we haven't gone in as much depth for some Dallas, North Texas and any Madison just because of the short week, but I mean the spirits are good. We rotate quite a bit in Texas. So we feel fit. Everybody's determined we understand what's on the line. That's again. So it's gone as well as it could. I guess it's answer. I'll figure.

1:09.0

Let's talk about that for a second then because you get the win at home to greenville. Then you fall in the road to North Texas. I'm guessing you all would have happily taken a point in Texas. What was the game plan heading into that match given the fixture congestion? And then how did you have to adjust it when they scored inside the first minute?

1:26.0

It's one of the one ever team scored is in the first couple minutes. The only reaction as a coach is.

1:36.0

I guess it's just I mean any preparation you have seems to change whether you know, I think back to torment when we can see that free kick. Great great goal for Mikey, but it's a great goal, but it was like, OK, yeah, but there's still a lot of game left.

1:54.0

I guess the game plan shouldn't change, but that early it's kind of like you wonder what is the psychological damage to the players?

2:04.0

It doesn't change the game plan at all. And we still have 89 minutes to cut out.

2:12.0

We got a good enough react. But the thing about our recent run of form in the hard part is a coach is.

2:23.0

You know, we've got a lot of healthy guys, but we're also winning. So you have to find this balance as the coach will play. Do you change winning team? Probably not, but then you have a bunch of guys are like, I want to play, I want to play.

2:34.0

So the nice thing about this congestion is we give guys an opportunity. You know, we made six changes starting lineup. You give a guy, OK, you want to say a chance and so it's frustrating to go down, but I think it's just the motivation is to you know, kind of work your way back into the team or you know, continue the progress.

2:52.0

You're right. 100% we would take an appointment, but we also believe so much on ourself. We were there to win. I mean, it looked like we weren't trying to sit back and try to counter them or hope something went our way. And obviously that first goal doesn't help, but we were there to win. And I think we had a decent game plan.

3:10.0

It's just frustrating that you know, you can see that 18 seconds. Yeah, it's funny.

3:18.0

But see, I take your point though, because then there were moments there like when it was when it was still too new when like there's the Dennis chin when that's clear of the line, then there's the one where he has the kind of heavy touch that that's broken up the last second.

3:30.0

And it felt like there were opportunities there for you all to equalize to kind of be in that game. And to me from what I saw from watching it again, it felt like it was kind of down to individual mistakes as opposed to like, oh, they kept attacking the right hand side and you all had no answer for that one.

3:46.0

When it like first of all, would you agree that kind of individual mistakes played a big part there in second of all if so, like what's to blame for that? Do you think for that like lack of sharpness? Is it rotation?

3:57.0

I probably chance, you know, a lot of that.

4:02.0

I think we played pretty well in gym, but didn't score a single hole. So, I mean, I think if too cheating had a chance in the first half from our press, where he intercepted the ball 12 yards out.

4:14.0

And that one was like like our plan to put them under pressure and put them on the back foot. You know, we want to protect it to say, OK, yes, their attack is brilliant.

4:24.0

And maybe is there weakness in their back for and does everybody say sit back and play our defense versus your attack?

4:31.0

We were like, well, let's try playing our attack for defense and let's take them out of place. We pressed a little bit higher.

4:37.0

We got the ball forward a little bit quicker. Still trying to be a possession team, but get the ball forward quicker.
