0:00.0	On the evening of April 14, 2014, 44-year-old Christine Kirk dialed 911 and told the dispatcher
0:08.8	that her husband was acting erratic.
0:11.3	She told the dispatcher, or at least what the dispatcher understood, was that he had been
0:15.8	smoking marijuana and was talking about the end of the world.
0:19.9	He had told his wife that he wanted her to shoot him.
0:23.6	Christine informed the dispatcher that there was a gun in the house, but that it was locked
0:28.0	in a safe.
0:29.5	She also explained that there are three sons, all under the age of 13 years old, were
0:34.9	also in the house and were frightened by their father.
0:38.9	The dispatcher sent officers to the house on a domestic disturbance call.
0:43.5	The officers were told that there was a gun in the home, but nobody had possession of
0:47.8	the weapon.
0:49.2	At some point, though, Christine's husband went to the safe and opened it.
0:54.0	He retrieved the loaded gun and when Christine saw him wielding the weapon, she began to

1:00.7	The next thing the dispatcher heard was a pop and the line went dead.

1:29.4	Richard Kirk was born on May 15th, 1966 and said in his interrogation that he grew up in
1:39.0	Salt Lake City, Utah.
1:41.2	Though he didn't have an extensive criminal record, he wasn't completely unknown to

1:47.0	In 1993, while living in Dallas, Texas, Richard was charged with felony assault.
