Welcome, welcome, welcome to the Distraction Pieces Podcast with Scroobius Pip!
This week Pip is joined by hilarious comic and now author RHYS JAMES!
An immediately bubbly and scattered catchup with Pip and Rhys, as they transmit in podcast-time from Rhys's equivalent of what Adam Buxton refers to as his 'nutty room'. On top of all things book related, centring around his very new 'You'll Like It When You Get There', he and Pip check in on many and much including house layouts and room purposes (where IS the best spot for a shower?), being a hygeine guy, "come and say hello", comedy specials and the wide world within, the joy of a canceled plan, the tightrope of too much or too little in the audiobook space, speed of standup performance relative to himself, and as said, a good amount of book chat. It's of course fascinating to hear about the process and how everything forms and shapes, so even if you're unfamiliar with Rhys you'll likely get a huge amount from the "tech talk" and behind the scenes biz. Enjoy!

| 0:19.9 | including that one. I thought it was |
| 0:22.3 | lovely to meet Reese. I thought it was a great episode. But doing this one in person felt so |
| 0:29.2 | different. It felt like we really got to properly connect and properly, I don't know, |
| 0:35.6 | interact and engage. And yeah, there was a lot of, you'll hear, |
| 0:39.6 | there's a lot of connections. Part of that is because Reese's got a new book called You'll |
| 0:45.5 | Like It When You Get There, A Life Lived Reluctantly. It came out last week, August 14th, out now. |
| 0:53.3 | And yeah, there's a lot in it that made me realize we're very, very similar people. |
| 0:58.0 | It's that weird thing, isn't it? |
| 0:59.0 | Like, when you're doing research and you're going off, I don't know, |
| 1:02.7 | wiki pages or press junket things or even the stand-up shows, |
| 1:07.8 | you can get a certain amount, but it makes all the difference |
| 1:10.3 | when someone has written, you know, a biography of sorts. |
| 1:15.0 | It's described as an introverts manifesto, a refreshingly honest look at modern life and how to get out of living it. |
| 1:22.4 | So yeah, I was delighted to sit down with Reese and properly, properly, I thought we'd already hit it off. |
| 1:27.9 | I considered Reese a friend. I hope that's not too bold. But now I consider him a lover. |
| 1:33.3 | As ever, we brought to by speech development records.com. There's going to be something going on |
| 1:37.7 | over there on Friday. I want to talk about it. I can't. You'll hear about it in next week's |
| 1:43.1 | episode and on my socials on Friday. |
| 1:45.7 | But yeah, have a little look at Speachievelemann Records.com on Friday. That's all I'll say. I'll say no more. You can also support by heading to patreon.com forward slash scrupious pip or Twitch.com. Or twitch.tv.com slash scrupius pipyo. after a bit of a hiatus, I've been on there far more |
