| 1:27.5 | Devil May Cry 3. Welcome, everybody, to the first Revival Club podcast. We've been doing this for a few months now. And we've been trying to figure out a good way to do these podcasts as kind of a wrap-up to each of the games that we're playing. If you're not familiar, if you support us on Patreon or Twitch, you can play along with the community. We pick a game every two months and we play it together. We talk about it together in Discord. And I kind of, at the end of that period of time, I collect some thoughts and questions from you guys and we're just going to talk about it as kind of a wrap up. Again, this is the first, this is covering the first game that we played, which was, like Brad just said, Devil May Cry 3. I think people were coming off the hype of Devil May Cry 5, or they were playing it at the time. This was, I think, leading up to the launch of Devil May Cry 5, actually. And I ended up playing this. I played this all the way through leading up. Surprising a little bit to me that you played all the way through it. I mean, I know you liked the game, |
| 1:47.0 | but you weren't super keen on five, and you had already finished five. Had I, or am I getting them backwards? You're getting it backwards. Oh, okay. Well, maybe I needed to play this. I think they made the choice while Devil May Cry 5 was out or about to be out, but then by the time everyone got around to playing it, it was after, I feel like. |
| 2:02.7 | Yeah, you're probably right. And, you know, maybe I needed, I felt like I needed to play this. Like you said, I wasn't super keen on Devil May Cry 5, not to say that I thought that was a bad game. the vibe you were coming off a Devil May Cry 5 was like maybe I just don't |
| 2:02.2 | like Devil May Cry or at least this style of Devil May Cry I feel like that was the vibe you |
| 2:06.4 | were giving up maybe maybe I had grown away from the series yeah when it started it was a very |
| 2:10.0 | different thing so I was really glad you went back to play three me too I actually ended up |
| 2:14.0 | really enjoying my time with this game. |
| 2:19.0 | Because it's a great game. I'm glad that you mentioned that starting out because the question I kind of wanted to just center this discussion around was one that you actually posted in Discord when we were talking about it. |
| 2:26.9 | That was essentially why is Devil May Cry 3 still consider the fan favorite, even though it may not, from a mechanical standpoint, be the best in the series. And I feel like that's, is that debatable? I don't know. No, no, I mean, it's true. I mean, because the mechanics have grown, they have grown, they become more refined. They introduced, you know, later on is when they introduce, like, being able to switch styles on the fly with Devil May Cry 4. |
| 2:51.2 | Yes. |
| 2:51.8 | The reason I think three is so beloved, first of all, historically, it was coming off after the tragedy that was Devil May Cry 2. |
| 3:00.1 | And it was the same director who kind of, like, picked up the pieces from two. |
| 3:03.7 | And that director is, it's Hedekiyattsuno. |
| 3:07.2 | Yes. |
| 3:15.6 | Hideaki is it's sooner. And, uh, it's, uh, Hideaki Yitzuno. Yes. Hediaki is, it's soon. And, and, um, yeah. And then he, he got a chance of, like, kind of direct one from the ground up with Devil cry three, kind of forgetting all the mistakes of the second one and kind of bringing back what was great from the first one. |
