In the studio with me today, my co-host, Barrett Dudley. Barrett, how are we doing today?

Oh man, I'm doing all right. Just going out to all the listeners on a Sunday here, aren't we?

Oh yeah, oh yeah, it's a busy time down here in Austin, Texas.

Sure is. We got South by Apada.

South by Snuck Up. So fast.

There's a good chance that if you are listening to this right now on Sunday, we are having a little party.

We're South by a little shindig. I would say that we should promote the party right now, but like I also just don't think that anyone's going to have that quick of a turn around.

Go from listening to this podcast to immediately go to the party. That would be pretty tough. Yeah, it would be tough.

It would be difficult. So we're sorry that we missed you. Do you look forward to South by? Do you dread South by? Are you kind of meh about it?

I'm pretty meh about it to be honest. Like I don't what I hold grudges about are just like the the traffic that it creates.

Yeah. Right. And for a couple weekends like reservations or tough like that type of thing, reservations are impossible anyways now. So it's like that whole thing is kind of a wash.

I get I get way angrier at the two weeks of trail of lights every December. Oh, yeah, it just absolutely shuts down one of our major through ways and I was for like two weeks from about 3 p.m. to 9 p.m.

It's awful. It doesn't matter what time of year it is. There's going to be some type of event in Austin that is going to inconvenience my life greatly compared to any other place I've lived in the world.

That doesn't seem that inconvenience, but that's how it is. Yeah. And South by it's really changed a lot.

I'm sure that we've got listeners that have been to various South by over the years. It's like it was a small little festival that was very cool and that locals kind of partake in and get free beer and see some cool shows and maybe see somebody like a famous act that you have no business seeing in a bar shows up in a bar and you're there and like it's all great.

And then it got like super, super, super corporate and it was like the era of the MySpace secret parties and you need to like a specific Samsung Galaxy phone to get into like the prints after show sponsored by the roots or whatever.

Sounds great. And then Lady Gaga threw up on stage sponsored by Doritos with a giant Doritos back and that was like the giant Doritos back was like behind her and that was like the pinnacle.

Did we understand how much the vibe shifted in that moment? I yeah, I think people did. I really think people did.

It was a tangible enough vibe. Yeah, it's that we just knew that this this event has jumped the shark and since then it's been like there's way fewer of like the like pitchfork house spotify house high

house. Yeah, yeah, not every single tech tech company has an activation anymore. And so it's it's a little bit more tone down now. And I think it's like, you know, it's fine.

If you can hit a few things, we can participate a little bit like all all good. But if you don't, it's like not sure you're missing a whole lot either.
