Sean, and thank you for having me on today. It's a pleasure to be here. Memphis came about

in kind of an unusual way. I was actually writing what is now going to become the

sequel to Memphis first, and I was convinced by those close to me who knew something about my

broadcast career early on as a teenager in young in early 20s. I was a rock and roll DJ.

And at one time, I was in Memphis at the very time that the civil rights movement was moving across the country.

And I was in Memphis when Martin Luther King was killed.

So I was a part of that process.

But it was also about the music of the time, the blues, soul music, R&B, rockabilly.

The Memphis sound was big at that time. So there was that element of it. And that's what

really started me writing that book. And I knew at some point that I would
