We know that every time you go home, you get a really nice welcome at the airport in Kentucky.

We learned about that from Wave 3, Wave 3 News down in Kentucky. Congressman John Yarm from wave three down, wave three news down in Kentucky.

Congressman John Yarmouth and Senator Mitch McConnell have returned home tonight from Washington, D.C.

Not everyone at the airport was there, though, to give the Republican majority leader a warm welcome home.

Mitch is a chicken. Mitch is a chicken.

Cheese a chicken.

With confirmation hearings taking place for members of President Trump's cabinet,

opponents turned out, but Senator McConnell did not stick around long to hear their grievances.

His motorcade sped off on the tarmac bypassing the terminal.

We did speak with Congressman Yarmouth, who was welcomed by cheers.

Listen to that. That for you tonight on Wave 3 News at 11. All right. That's nice. I don't usually get that every time I come home, but it's nice. Sounds like you won the Super Bowl or something, man. That's pretty great. You know, it's funny because Mitch and I were actually walking off the plane together, actually talking. And we got to the end of the jetway and his guys were there and they said,

Senator, you'd better hang back, which I didn't really know what they meant.

But anyway, I kept walking and, of course, then I found out.

They were aware that there was a protest out front.

So you had called all of those people and told them to come down to the airport.
