Summary

Rep. Bishop was one of the 20, the group of GOP Reformers. He says if they hadn’t held out and McCarthy had been elected from the beginning, we wouldn’t have had the debate. The nation wasn’t going to go up in smoke if the Speaker’s election was delayed a few days. That was Democracy and it’s about time we see more of it. Bishop is grateful to the holdouts who originally went public against McCarthy. They showed the most courage and without them these reforms in the 118th Congress wouldn’t have been possible. Many in the Republican Conference were critical of their push for reforms, but are now thrilled about what they all accomplished.
