Here are today's headlines. Texas Democrat Representative Henry Quayor and his wife have been indicted.

NBC News was the first to report this morning that the Justice Department was preparing

to indict Quayor on Friday.

Quayor and his wife, Emmelda,

have been charged with bribery and conspiracy.

The Associated Press reports that from 2014 to 2021, Quayer and his wife accepted nearly $600,000 in bribes from an

Azerbaijan controlled energy company and a bank in Mexico.

In exchange for the money,

and the bank.

The Justice Department said today that the bribe payments were allegedly laundered

through a series of front companies and middlemen into shell companies owned by Amaldacquire, who performed little to

know legitimate work under the contracts.

The DOJ says that in exchange for the bribes paid by the Azerbaijani Oil and Gas Company,

Congressman Coyer allegedly agreed to use his office to influence U.S. foreign policy in favor

of Azerbaijan, and in exchange for the bribes paid by the Mexican

Bank, Congressman Quayer allegedly agreed to influence legislative activity and to

advise and pressure high-ranking U.S. Executive Branch officials regarding

measures beneficial to the bank. Quayor and his wife were taken into custody

today.
