Well, you thought I'd be waiting up when you came home last night.

You'd been out with all the boys and you ended up had time, but liquor and love.

They just don't make sleeves of all or me behind.

We lost Loretta Lynn last week or depending on when you were listening to this two weeks ago.

Loretta Lynn passed away at 90 years old.

A long, rich, lustrous, varied, fascinating, sui generous career.

And we're going to talk about Loretta this week on the show.

Julie Hyde's going to be with us in just a minute to get into the weeds on the art,

the politics, the aesthetics, et cetera.

Obviously, when someone disestablished and this important passes away, even at a very old age,

it's hard not to think about how this person's music translates into the present moment,

which is like a little bit of like a false narrative often.

But with Loretta, it does feel particularly poignant.

And I expect that we're going to get into that and the ways in which things that she did in the 60s and 70s,

that were novel and perhaps uncharted water still feel beyond pointed and potent right now.

I'm coming off of a very long weekend of running around and events.

I do want to say congratulations to Rachel and Lloyd, who had a tremendous wedding this past weekend,

truly a privilege and a joy to be down there with you.

So shout out to Rachel and Lloyd and to everybody who was down there thugging it out in Delaware with me.
