Summary

Note: This episode of Danger Close originally ran in October 2021.

James Yeager passed away on September 1, 2022. This is a tribute to his life and legacy. As James would always close out his videos: “This is James Yeager for Tactical Response reminding you that your responsibility to be ready for the fight, never ends.” James Yeager was a police officer, private security contractor, and founder and CEO of the firearm and tactical training company Tactical Response. He had been a firearms trainer since 1994 and founded Tactical Response in 1996 on the principle of “Student First – Instructor Second.”     Yeager’s law enforcement experience included serving as an undercover drug enforcement officer, SWAT team leader, K-9 handler, and as Chief of the Big Sandy Police Department in Tennessee.

In 2004 and 2005, he worked as a private security contractor in Iraq, responsible for the protection of eight Iraqi Election Commissioners. On April 20, 2005, his PSD was caught in an ambush on Route Irish between the Green Zone and Baghdad International Airport. Three members of his team were killed. James discusses this in detail during the conversation.

How much does a million dollars in $100 bills weigh and how did James Yeager know?    What do you do if you lock your keys in an armored vehicle? Find out on the podcast. James was also the founder of libertv.com and its popular YouTube channel.  His Instagram profile is @mfceoyeager.

0:44.0

there's nothing that he would not do for his friends or his family. If you did follow him,

response, reminding you that your responsibility to be ready for the fight never ends. James Yeager.

I am here today with my dear friend James Yeager, and I haven't decided whether to kick this off

1:15.2

by talking about just by thanking you or waiting till the end, and I'll probably do a little bit of

1:21.2

both here because I will get into it here in a little bit, but you were the first person to

1:29.2

really get the word out about my first novel, the Terminal List, and you have such a dedicated

1:36.3

group and engaged group of people that follow you and that train with you. So for you to say that,

1:44.0

that really kicked off the first novel in a way that most people don't get kicked off.

1:49.8

I just sincerely appreciate it. It's no problem, and it's funny because the book was good.

1:56.5

If it were to suck, we wouldn't be doing this part of it. Everybody listening can kind of

2:05.0

identify with when you have friends, if you can do your friend a favor, you do the favor,

2:10.0

there's no real thought of it. You know, you just do, it just like you do. And so

2:16.6

you know, what you expressed to me was, hey, I'm getting out and I would like to really have a

2:23.6

job or I could stay at home and help take care of my family and writing. You said in writing is

2:29.2

something I can do, which turned out to be a complete liar on the road all the time.

2:33.0

Before COVID, COVID really helped out. But I thought, okay, he's got a plan, he's wants to do this.
