I'm Maria Bear alongside John Stone Street, president of the Colson Center.

John, I don't know when was the last time you were in California, but I wanted to talk

with you first today about a law that they passed there last year that just took effect

at the beginning of this year.

And now we're starting to see some reports of the after effects of that law and what

that's going to do.

And it sounds like it's really changing the culture on the streets in particular in

a lot of the bigger California cities.

And what this law was, and why I wanted to talk with you about it, it definitely comes

with some worldview implications.

Last year, a lawmaker in California put forth this law that relaxed rules against loitering.
